BestPlay for Hump Day - Muddy Play Tray

A baking tray, some mud (or three cups of flour, one cup of cocoa powder, one cup brown sugar and three cups of water), some accessories like small sticks, leaves or flowers, animal figurines or Duplo people.

If you need to make the mud,
mix the dry ingredients in a bowl until they resemble ‘mud’. Next pour your mud (real or created) into the baking tray.

Place the tray in front of your child. They’ll want to dive right into its wet, messy goodness and by all means, let them! It’ll all wash off in the bath later. They’ll want to put their hands right into the mixture and feel that oozing, damp loveliness between their fingers. This sensory experience sends so many messages to their brain through their hands. Once you little one has spent as long as they need exploring the texture of the mud, try introducing some accessories. (Make sure you are supervising your little one all the time and that the items aren’t small enough to be a choking hazard.)
